The I-Locus is a region of your dog's DNA which controls the intensity of colour of the phaeomelanin or yellow/red pigment which is expressed through the E-locus.
Your dog's coat colour intensity will only be affected if your dog is e/e on the E-Locus and thus expressing the yellow coat pigment.
The coat colour intensity is affected by mutations on the MFSD12 gene.
